Might eventually finish editing SXSW photos tonight.

The Veronica Mars and Zach Braff projects have brought tens of thousands of new people to Kickstarter. 63% of those people had never backed a project before. Thousands of them have since gone on to back other projects, with more than $400,000 pledged to 2,200 projects so far. Nearly 40% of that has gone to other film projects.

Kickstarter confirms what I wrote about Braffgate

New albums you can buy this week

Jim Guthrie, Takes Time

Mikal Cronin, MCII

Deerhunter, Monomania

Still Corners, Strange Pleasures

Recommended in that order. I didn’t like Savages but it’s worth peeking at. Haven’t listened to She & Him yet but I’m firmly Team Zooey and look forward to it.

Went to see Iron Man 3 and mostly loved it but felt like it had tonal issues in comparison to the first two and it is so hard to make film trilogies or art in general that keeps a certain sensibility intact and this one embraces its Shane Black-ness, which is not a problem but it just creates a level of dissonance. It is mostly a terrific movie, just less of a Marvel-y movie. I’m very excited to see it again.

Then I went to the bar and drank milk stouts and my friends were adorable and I am going on vacation in two days and I feel pretty great about that, hey this is a personal Tumblr, deal with it. (Hi, Mom.)

Also I am listening to the new National album and man oh man.

So true. Also, I don’t know about you, but I think this new one is 100% better than Fill up the Room.

I loooove Fill Up The Room but the new one definitely has more of a classic noisy SLGTM feel.

Album Stream: Saturday Looks Good To Me - One Kiss Ends It All :: Featured Audio :: Paste

Since Saturday Looks Good to Me single-handedly proved Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound could be recreated in a garage over a decade ago, a number of boy-girl, major label-polished bands have followed in their reverb-drenched wake. Nobody beats the originals.

As promised, a Ryan Adams cover by yrs truly. Recorded live, quickly, because I have to go sell old Magic cards. Cheers.
